The client had long relied on their on-premises servers to support mission-critical systems, including financial management, production scheduling, and daily office operations. However, as the business expanded and application demands grew, the legacy infrastructure could no longer deliver the required performance or scalability. The client needed a high-performance, scalable, and compliant private cloud platform—while ensuring zero downtime and zero risk during the migration of business systems and data.
· Data Migration: Securely transfer historical financial, production, and other critical business data from on-premises databases to object and file storage hosted in the OSC datacenter.
· Workload Migration: Smoothly transition the client’s VMware-based virtualization environment to the new private cloud cluster, ensuring full business continuity.
Leveraging years of expertise in datacenter transformation and cloud migration, we designed a phased migration strategy using canary/blue-green deployment principles:
1. Data Migration – Phased & Resilient
· Used Veeam enterprise-grade data protection and migration tools for snapshot-based phased transfers, combined with incremental updates for changed data.
· All migrated data was written to newly provisioned object and file storage, ensuring full redundancy throughout the process.
· Implemented integrity validation mechanisms to guarantee complete consistency between source and destination data.
2. Workload Migration – Pre-Validation & Seamless Cutover
· Migrated standby service containers and virtual machines to the private cloud cluster first, enabling live testing.
· Upon customer confirmation of stable performance with no business disruption, gradually switched production workloads over to the new environment.
· This phased approach ensured no interruptions to mission-critical operations during cutover.
